Biography / 简介

于雷，1997年生于湖南长沙，2019年获得西安美术学院实验艺术系综合材料绘画专业艺术学士学位，2023年获得英国金斯顿大学纯艺术硕士学位，现生活工作于上海和长沙。

于雷运用东西方古代绘画媒介来进行当代艺术创作，他将坦培拉与东方壁画及矿物颜料相结合。他的作品忽略背景，或是以大面积的、没有情感的黑所取代，随后用近乎"神经质"般密集克制的线条，将提炼过的形象再现在由矿物粉末覆盖的画布和云肌麻纸上。

于雷的创作一直游走在中西方古典神话和后人类的探索中。画中的主体以双性、无性和 Hybrid 形态出现，时而像古希腊雕塑般伫立在画面中央，时而像自由的灵魂般游走在虚空中。它们作为高度集中的精神意象，是一种超越现实机体的存在，同时指示着过去和未来——这也是于雷对于自我精神超越现实躯体的具象化表现。

Yu Lei was born in 1997 in Changsha, Hunan. He received his BFA from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts (2019) and his MA in Fine Art from Kingston University, UK (2023). He currently lives and works in Shanghai and Changsha. Yu Lei combines Tempera with Eastern frescos and mineral pigments, creating contemporary works that explore classical myths and post-humanism through androgynous, genderless, and hybrid forms.
